Ingredients:

  • 2 ribeye or sirloin steaks (about 6-8 oz each)
  • 1 cup long-grain white rice (or jasmine rice)
  • 2 cups beef broth (or water)
  • 3 tbsp olive oil (for cooking)
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 4 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 3 tbsp honey
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper (to taste)
  • 1 tsp dried thyme (optional)

Preparation Method:

1. Cook the rice:

  • In a large skillet or pan, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat. Add the rice and toast it for about 2 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Add the beef broth (or water), season with a pinch of salt, and bring it to a simmer. Cover the skillet with a lid, reduce the heat to low, and let the rice cook for about 15-20 minutes, or until the liquid is absorbed and the rice is tender. Remove from heat and set aside.

2. Prepare the steak:

  • While the rice is cooking, season the steaks generously with salt and pepper on both sides.

  • Remove the steaks from the skillet and let them rest for a few minutes before slicing them against the grain into strips.

3. Make the honey garlic butter sauce:

  • In the same skillet, reduce the heat to medium. Add the butter and let it melt, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom of the pan for added flavor.
  • Add the minced garlic and cook for about 1 minute until fragrant.
  • Stir in the honey, soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, and dried thyme (if using). Allow the sauce to simmer for 2-3 minutes, until it slightly thickens.

4. Combine the steak and rice:

  • Add the cooked rice to the skillet with the honey garlic butter sauce and stir to combine, ensuring the rice is evenly coated with the sauce.
  • Return the sliced steak to the skillet, tossing gently to mix everything together. Let it cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until everything is heated through.

5. Serve and garnish:

  • Serve the steak and rice in bowls or plates, garnished with fresh parsley for a pop of color. You can also drizzle any extra sauce over the top for added richness.
